ABOUT
allison anne is a freelance artist, graphic designer and independent publisher based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA (unceded Očhéthi Šakówiŋ land).Working in a variety of mediums, allison draws on a lifetime of creative experimentation and 15+ years of professional experience in print design and publishing in their work.Their professional background includes design work a wide range and variety of contexts, including municipalities, nonprofits, arts organizations, small businesses, independent artists and the private sector. allison's background in cultural studies and gender studies (University of Minnesota, 2009) informs their interest in working on projects that are expansive and inclusive of many perspectives, particularly ones that center around queer & trans experiences.allison's visual art, primarily in the medium of collage, has appeared widely in print and been around the world, including the Typa Centre in Tallinn, Estonia, the M17 Contemporary Art Center in Kyiv, Ukraine, in outdoor installations as part of Kunst im Fluss in Gemünd, Germany, and the Malang Creative Center in Malang City, Indonesia. allison's work also appears in the collection of the Minnesota Museum of American Art as part of the MPLSART 2020 Sketchbook Project. Publications allison has designed are available at The Shop at Minnesota Center for Book Arts.They are a founding member of Twin Cities Collage Collective, a group committed to expanding access to and building community through collage. With the artist Jeremy P. Bushnell, they maintain an ongoing creative collaboration as Morphic Rooms and a publishing & distribution practice with their small press, NONMACHINABLE.Along with their creative practice, allison enjoys spending time with their cats, traveling to see friends, exchanging mail art & zines, exploring film photography, collecting vintage knick-knacks & ephemera, and volunteering at the Workshop for Independent Publishing in Minneapolis.
